Pentagon And White House At Odds Over Iraq Strategy
On 'Outnumbered', Fox News' Jesse Watters and Jennifer Griffin discussed the dissension between the White House and the Pentagon over the handling of the spread of ISIS in Iraq.

The Pentagon feels limited airstrikes and focus on humanitarian aid does not confront the entire threat that ISIS poses to Iraq and the Middle East. Officials at the Pentagon say a real strategy is needed from President Obama to deal with the chaos in Iraq.

Jesse Watters: Jesse Watters here if you could give us a little behind the scenes on this. The Pentagon and the White House: Are they in full agreement on this? We know General Dempsey really wants to take the fight to these terrorists there but it seems like the White House is slow walking the operation, it’s humanitarian, it’s pinprick, is everybody on the same page?

Jennifer Griffin: No they are not. In fact, I have multiple well placed Pentagon official sources who tell me that there is a great deal of tension between the White House and the State Department on one side and the Pentagon on the other. The Pentagon saying ‘look, we have been authorized with these eighteen or so airstrikes that we have carried out so far to hit some ISIS targets around the Erbilarea to protect the US consulate there, to also hit the ones that are focusing on the YezidiS but that is not the complete ISIS threat. ISIS is carrying out suicide bombings in Baghdad; they are on the move and on the march towards Baghdad. They have taken the two rivers the Tigris and the Euphrates and all the towns along the route there. All of the officials from the pentagon side who I’m talking to, Pentagon planners involved in the mix, they say that what they need is a strategy from the President to deal with ISIS. This right now is simply authorization to help with the humanitarian situation with the Yezidis. That is not going to kill the ISIS threat.
