Kurdistan Region President Masoud Barzani met with a Russian government and business delegation headed by Alexander Dyukov, chairman of the management board of Russia’s Gazprom Neft.

The visiting delegation, which also included Russia’s deputy minister of energy, are visiting Kurdistan to participate in this year’s annual oil and gas conference, currently being held in the capital Erbil.

In today’s meeting, Mr. Dyukov expressed his gratitude to the KRG for its close cooperation in the energy sector, and outlined plans for further cooperation with the KRG in the areas of infrastructure projects, health, and education. He added that more Russian companies are seeking to work and invest in Kurdistan.

President Barzani reiterated that the KRG is eager to expand cooperation with Russian businesses and expressed full KRG support for the work that Gazprom Neft is undertaking in Kurdistan.
