Police directorate of Sulaimaniyah in Kurdistan revealed on Wednesday, the death of the protections official of Iraqi president, Jalal Talabani in an attack by unidentified gunmen on his home in the city center.


“Unidentified gunmen attacked at dawn Wednesday, Colonel Serwet Hama Rashid inside his home in Ibrahim Ahmed area in central Sulaimaniyah and shot him in the head, killing him immediately,” The police spokesman,captain Ahmed Sarkot said.

A source close to the victim family told Hawlati said "Rashid has been shot dead at 5:00 am in his house kitchen".

Ahmed added that investigations are underway to detect the perpetrators, arrest them and bring them to justice.

Ahmed did not specify the nature of the attack and whether Serwet Hama Rashid was targeted by a party or it was a criminal incident.

It is worth mentioning that Colonel, Serwet Hama Rashid works as responsible for the protections of Iraqi President, Jalal Talabani since 1994.
