“Recently the media in Kurdistan have been publishing statements which are targeting the unity of Kurdistan Region, endangering and challenging the gains of the people of Kurdistan, and they are inconsistent with the national orientations, and its supreme interests.

“Such statements are seen as part of an effort to separate Sulaimaniyah province from Kurdistan Region. This is done while Kurdish leadership is continuing efforts to implement Article 140, and returning Kirkuk and other Kurdish areas outside the provincial administration to its natural position as an integral part of Kurdistan.
“We consider these Statements as mere illusions contrary to the will of the people of Kurdistan. We clearly and plainly reaffirm that the unity of the region is a red line that cannot be harmed under any circumstances and by any means and tools.

“However, we will say that we are with all attempts of reform which aim at strengthening democracy and uphold the province in all fields-- political, economic, social and cultural. We also ask Kurdistan government to take what is necessary, without delay, to hold provincial elections, which is a turning point in conducting such reforms in Sulaymaniyah and other areas, and promoting legal institutions of the region in various fields.”
