Kosrat Rasul Meets US General Consul
Vice-president of Kurdistan Region,Kosrat Rasul received on August 18, 2013, Josef Pennington, the US Consul General to Erbil.

In a meeting which was held at the office of Kosrat Rasul in Sulaimanya, the two sides have talked about the upcoming parliamentary election of Kurdistan Region.

Rasul said that postponing the elections is not reasonable and elections should be held at the exact time that Kurdistan Region parliament has voted for, which is September 21st.Mr. Josef also showed his government’s full support for succeeding the process of democratic elections in the region.

The current security issues and the situation of Southern Iraq were also talked about in the meeting.

The situation of Kurds in Western Kurdistan was another part of the meeting. Mr. Kosrat Rasul asked the US government to officially condemn the terroristic plans held against Kurds in the west of Kurdistan, and he asked the US General Consul to take actions for helping the Kurdish innocent people who have left their homes and moved to the camps due to clashes between Assad’s regime and the opposition parties.

On his side, the US General Consul in Erbil announced that the US government has decided to give 44 million US dollars for the Kurdish immigrants who have left their homes. He also praised the role of KRG for helping them.
