Iraqi Parliament refuses cancellation of Ration Cards, says lawmaker
Iraqi lawmaker Burhan Hama Faraj from Kurdistan Alliance told PUKmedia that Iraqi parliament had called on the presence of three ministers, Trade, Finance and Plan ministers, to discuss the decision of cancelling the Ration Cards which was issued last week by Council of Ministers.
On November 6, Iraqi Council of Ministers voted for the dissolution of Ration Cards and giving each citizen 15000 IQD cash handouts instead.
The cabinet’s decision provoked outrages among the Iraqis nationwide as they fear souring prices of food items they used to receive such as rice, flour, sugar, vegetable oil and tea.
“The parliament’s session will discuss possible ways to resolve the issue,” said the lawmaker, “there is a general idea in the parliament to reject the cabinet’s decision.”
