Iran President Ahmadinejad plans visit to Iraq: Envoy
Iran’s Ambassador to Baghdad Hassan Danaeifar said on Sunday Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad plans to visit neighboring Iraq in the near future, FNA reports.

"President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad will travel to Baghdad next month to meet Iraqi officials and hold talks with them on bilateral ties," Iranian Ambassador to Baghdad Hassan Danayeefar told Fars News Agency.

Earlier reports said President Ahmadinejad was slated to visit the Iraqi capital in early November in a bid to take part in the 2nd International Conference on the Global Fight against Terrorism which was postponed and an exact date has not been set by the Iraqi officials.

The first International Conference on the Global Fight against Terrorism was held in Tehran in late June 2011. Senior officials from at least 60 countries and representatives from several international organizations including the UN attended the two-day meeting.

Both sides are working on a series of plans to take wide strides in expanding their ties.
