Iranian Kurdish political activist sentenced to death
Saman Nasim was arrested in July 2011 near Iran’s border in Western Azerbaijan province by security forces, reported Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA).
Nasim is charged as ‘Mohareb’ (Enemy of God) due to his political activities against the Iranian regime and being a member of being a member of anti-regime groups.
Nasim was sentenced to death by the branch one of Mahabad's revolutionary court.
Mohareb has been translated by English language Iranian media as "enemy of God", usually used against those who are against the state. It is a capital crime in the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Human Rights Watch continuously criticizes Iranian government for violating human rights and freedom of expression in Kurdistan.
