Postponement of electricity minister's questioning motivated politically, says MP
Committee member Uday Awad said no one understands the importance of the questions and the files about "legal violations and financial corruption" that the Minister of Electricity will be questioned about.
He added no solutions can be reached for the electricity crisis if the current minister stays in office.
The Oil and Energy Committee said earlier it has 30 documented legal offenses against the minister.
Upon a request from the oil and energy committee which was supported by 70 signatures, the legal committee demanded by the end of July that the minister should be questioned in the Council of Representatives.
Aftan held the post of Electricity minister following Raad Shallal, after his corruption in two fake contracts cost of $ 1.7bn was revealed.
