Foreign Minister Participates in Ministerial Meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement
Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hoshyar Zebari, headed Iraq's delegation to the Foreign Ministers meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement on 28/8/2012 for the preparation of the Movement Summit.
Minister Zebari recited a statement tackling international political and economic issues, first of which was the sustainable development and development in the developing countries, achieving the Millennium Goals for Development, water problems, desertification, human rights, climate changes, and counter terrorism since it is a threat targeting the social peace and security of the Non-Aligned Movement members.

The Minister also tackled the essential regional issues; the Palestinian cause and the Arab-Israeli conflict, stressing Iraq's firm stance in attempting to establish the independent Palestinian State and Al Quds as its capital, in addition to finding a fair and agreed upon solution for the Palestinian refugees, including their right of return.

He talked about the disarmament issue, calling for the globalization of the non-proliferation agreement and the countries' right to possess peaceful nuclear power, including Iran, because it is a member in the non-proliferation agreement to develop its peaceful nuclear programs under the supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency IAEA.

Minister Zebari concluded his statement by calling for reconsidering the structure of the Non-Aligned Movement in the way that corresponds to developing it on one hand and to correspond to the changes in the world order structure on the other hand.
