Return of Kurdistan constitution to parliament will be discussed in conference today
The media advisor of the Kurdistan Parliament’s speaker announced that a conference would be held in Erbil today regarding returning the Kurdistan Region's constitution to Kurdistan’s Parliament.
In June 2009 Kurdistan’s Parliament approved the constitution - which consists of 122 articles - by 96 votes and in attendance of 97 members out of 111.

Tareq Jawhar said the conference would be held in Van Royal Hotel in attendance of the speaker Arsalan Bayiz and democracy and human rights organizations along with many officials and political factions.

A number of MPs, legal experts and lawyers will participate in the gathering, the purpose of which is to discuss the Kurdistan Region's constitution.

Member of the legal committee in Kurdistan’s Parliament Goran Azad said: “Three issues will be brought up in the meeting by three lawyers and legal experts, then later the participants will discuss the issues and how to return the constitution to parliament.”

Opposition parties previously demanded the return of the constitution to parliament for modification.
