Kurdistan Region has not notified us of new deadline for provincial elections, says commission chief
Faraj Haidari said the commission has no clue about the new deadline for the election.
It has been seven years since the provincial councils witnessed elections in the Kurdistan Region. According to law the elections must be carried out every four years.
Haidari added: "The election of Iraqi provincial councils will not be held on time due to a lack of budget and disputes about the renewal of voters’ records. Some suggested the commission should depend on records from the Trade Ministry and some went to the records of the Statistics Board.”
The election is supposed to be held on January 15 but the commission announced that the election will postponed to another time.
