Iraq's parliament to call minister about Alwan River
A source from Iraq’s parliament said the Minister of Water Resources would be called to the parliament about the Alwan River issue.
Deputy head of the parliamentary agricultural committee Qasim Brsio said the issue of Alwan river is a significant one. Iran has many times halted the river’s flow into Iraq.

Iraq's Minister of Water Resources visited Iran and later Iran opened the river. But now the water has stopped coming to Iraq again, Brsio added.

Brsio said: "It is not acceptable for Iran to block the river whenever it wants. Thus our committee invited the minister to talk about the issue."

Brsio stressed that the issue is politically motivated rather than technical. He said a letter was sent through parliament’s presidency to Iraq’s Foreign Ministry to solve the problem.
