Undersecretary for Policy Planning and Bilateral Relations, Labid Abbawi, received on 1/8/2012 the Japanese Charge D'Affaires in Baghdad, Neshanaga Tomo Fomi.
During the meeting, the situation in Syria was discussed. Undersecretary Abbawi stressed that the latest developments in Syria are worrying, especially after the recent events which claimed the lives of many civilians, pointing out that Iraq is seeking, under the Arab League umbrella, to join efforts and coordinate positions to find appropriate solutions to the situation in Syria in order to stop the violence and support the aspirations of the Syrian people to democracy and stability.

Bilateral relations were also tackled during the meeting.
