Iraq's Foreign Ministry said that it has received a letter from the US which agrees to extend the period for protecting Iraqi funds abroad deposited in the development fund for Iraq until May 2013.
The ministry's statement said: "The acting United States Embassy in Iraq, Robert Beecroft, has given Iraq's Foreign Minister Hoshyiar Zebari a letter containing the extension of protection of Iraqi funds abroad until May 2013."

The extension prevents Iraq's funds abroad from any law suits and claims for one more year.

In the meeting, Zebari discussed with Beecroft the Iraq-Kuwait relations and regional developments.
