Norwegian Socialist Party works to recognize Kurdish genocide
A delegation from Norwegian Socialist left party expressed Monday in a meeting with KRG deputy Prime Minister Emad Ahmed its support to help KRG recognize genocide committed against the Kurds by ousted Ba’ath regime leader Saddam Hussain in the late 1980s.

Genocide against the Iraqi Kurds by Ba’ath regime chaired by disposed Saddam Hussain has not been internationally recognized.

Deputy Chairman of Socialist left party supported the KRG efforts to recognize Anfal and Halabja chemical attack committed against Kurdish civilians and humanity, referring to the meetings the party has held with KRG Ministry of Anfal and Martyrs affairs and the steps it has taken in Norway.

Anfal was a genocidal campaign against the Kurdish people in Northern Iraq, led by the Iraqi regime of Saddam Hussein and headed by Ali Hassan al-Majid in the final stages of Iran-Iraq War. The campaign takes its name from Surat al-Anfal in the Qur'an, which was used as a code name by the former Iraqi Baathist regime for a series of systematic attacks against the Kurdish population of northern Iraq, conducted between 1986 and 1989 and culminating in 1988.
