Kobani Liberation a Reminder of What We Can Achieve Through Unity: PM Barzani
"Today marks far more than the liberation of Kobane from ISIS occupation and tyranny; it was a transcendent moment that brought together the Kurdish people against a common enemy," Barzani wrote on Twitter.
"And it is a powerful reminder of what we can achieve through unity and cooperation."
The Islamic State on 15 September, 2014, besieged the Syrian Kurdish town of Kobani, with the Kurdistan Region a few weeks later sending Peshmerga forces, heavy weapons, and ammunition to Kobani to assist the local Kurdish fighters in the fight against the militant group.
