President Nechirvan Barzani received France's Ambassador to Iraq, Mr. Patrick Durel, in Erbil on Sunday evening.
During the meeting, both sides discussed France’s relations with Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, exploring opportunities to strengthen collaboration across multiple sectors. Furthermore, they exchanged views on Iraq's current situation and the region's latest developments, particularly regarding Syria.
President Nechirvan Barzani expressed his gratitude for France's ongoing support of the Kurdistan Region and emphasized the importance of enhancing bilateral relations in various sectors.
Ambassador Durel, for his part, paid tribute to the victims of the Halabja chemical attack and reaffirmed his country's commitment to supporting both the Kurdistan Region and Iraq. He commended their efforts in fostering stability in the region.
The French Consul General to the Kurdistan Region, Mr. Yann Braem, was also present at the meeting.
