President Masoud Barzani, president of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), met with Faleh Fayyaz, chairman of the Hashd al-Shaabi Committee, on Sunday to discuss the relationship between the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) and the Iraqi federal government.

According to a statement from Barzani’s headquarters, the meeting, held in Pirman, focused on the political and security situation in Iraq and the wider region. Both sides reviewed ongoing challenges and explored ways to strengthen ties between Erbil and Baghdad.

The discussions come at a time when Iraq is facing heightened tensions among various political and military factions. Relations between the KRG and the federal government remain a key factor in maintaining stability across the country.
