KRG Prime Minister Masrour Barzani Discusses Trade, Energy, and Regional Stability with Turkish Deputy Foreign Minister

Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Prime Minister Masrour Barzani met today with Periz Ekincı, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey, to discuss bilateral relations and key regional issues.
The meeting focused on strengthening trade and energy cooperation between the Kurdistan Region and Turkey. Both sides agreed on the importance of resuming oil exports from the Kurdistan Region through Turkey’s Ceyhan port. This follows the Iraqi Parliament’s approval of amendments to the Federal General Budget Law, which include provisions for covering oil production and transportation costs in the region.
Discussions also covered the Development Road project, a strategic initiative aimed at connecting the Gulf states and Iraq to Turkey and Europe via a railway network. The Kurdistan Region’s role in this major infrastructure project was highlighted as essential to its success.
Regional security was another key topic, with both parties addressing the latest developments in Syria. They underscored the importance of maintaining stability and ensuring the protection of the rights of the Kurdish people and all other communities in the country.
The meeting reflects ongoing efforts to enhance economic cooperation and regional stability between the Kurdistan Region and Turkey.
