Kurdistan Region Presidency Condemns Iraqi Army’s Treatment of Kurdish Farmers in Kirkuk

The Kurdistan Region Presidency has strongly condemned the behavior of certain members of the Iraqi army towards Kurdish farmers in Kirkuk. Dilshad Shahab, spokesperson for the Kurdistan Region Presidency, stated that such actions are "completely unacceptable and must be condemned."

In a statement, Shahab emphasized that the Kurdistan Region Presidency has been closely monitoring the situation and has urged the relevant authorities to take necessary measures against those responsible. Additionally, he called for steps to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.

“Actions of this nature disrupt coexistence and social harmony; therefore, it is essential for everyone to reject such behavior, denounce the perpetrators, and ensure that they are held accountable under the law,” Shahab said.

The incident has raised concerns over tensions in Kirkuk, a historically disputed region between the Kurdistan Regional Government and the federal government of Iraq. Kurdish officials have repeatedly called for maintaining peace and protecting the rights of Kurdish residents in the area.

The Kurdistan Region Presidency has reaffirmed its commitment to working with the relevant authorities to ensure justice and maintain stability in Kirkuk. Local and international observers continue to monitor the situation closely.
