Syria’s newly appointed President Ahmed al-Sharaa has been invited to visit Germany, his office announced on Friday, following a phone call with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz. The invitation marks a significant step in international diplomatic engagement with Syria after the recent political transition.

The announcement comes just two days after Sharaa’s office confirmed an invitation to visit France, highlighting growing European interest in Syria’s reconstruction and future governance.

Both leaders agreed on the necessity of an inclusive political process that ensures the participation of all Syrians and guarantees rights and protections for the population. “The Federal Chancellor underlined the ongoing importance of the fight against terrorism for security in Syria, the region, and worldwide,” the spokesperson added.
