U.S. Central Command Announces Major Strikes Against ISIS, Hundreds of Militants Killed

The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on Tuesday that it has conducted a series of successful operations in the past two months, targeting and eliminating hundreds of suspected ISIS members and leaders across Iraq and Syria. In collaboration with Iraqi and Syrian security forces, CENTCOM reported that it executed 95 “Defeat ISIS” (D-ISIS) operations since August 29, some of which involved independent U.S. strikes in Syria.

According to CENTCOM's statement, the coordinated operations led to the deaths of 163 ISIS militants and the capture of 33 others, including more than 30 senior and mid-level leaders. These strikes have significantly impacted ISIS’s capacity to plan and carry out attacks in the region.

The military also noted a recent series of strikes conducted on October 28, which targeted known ISIS camps in Syria, resulting in the deaths of 35 ISIS operatives. This escalation is part of an ongoing effort to dismantle remaining ISIS cells and disrupt their operations.

Although ISIS was territorially defeated in Iraq in 2017 and in Syria in 2019, the group has continued to launch hit-and-run attacks, bombings, and abductions, particularly in the Syrian desert and several Iraqi provinces. CENTCOM emphasized that these operations have been essential in degrading ISIS's ability to organize and launch further assaults.

The U.S. and local forces remain committed to countering the threat posed by ISIS remnants as they strive to maintain stability and security in the region.
