Turkish Business Delegation to Visit Erbil for Strengthening Economic Ties

A delegation of Turkish businessmen, representing 37 prominent companies, is scheduled to arrive in Erbil on October 31 to explore investment and partnership opportunities, according to Kurdish officials.

Kamran Salah Bajgar, Deputy President of the Erbil Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ECCI), shared the details with BasNews, revealing that the delegation includes firms specializing in food, construction, real estate, pharmaceuticals, and agriculture. Bajgar noted that this visit aims to foster collaboration between Turkish and Kurdish enterprises in various sectors.

"Turkey visited us in Erbil to organize the arrival of the delegation," Bajgar said, underscoring the objective of strengthening business ties and increasing investments in the Kurdistan Region. Highlighting Erbil’s stability and economic growth, Bajgar emphasized that the Region’s favorable environment has been a significant draw for foreign investors, particularly during the ninth cabinet's tenure.

The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) official emphasized Turkey’s pivotal role in the Region's economy, pointing out that the annual trade turnover between Turkey, the Kurdistan Region, and Iraq stands at an impressive $16 to $18 billion. Geographic proximity and mutual economic interests have deepened trade and economic relations between the Kurdistan Region and Turkey over recent years, with Turkish companies heavily investing in areas such as construction, energy, and retail.

Turkish goods, from consumer products to construction materials, are widely available across the Region’s markets. Trade flows are facilitated through the Ibrahim Khalil border crossing, a crucial link for commerce between Turkey and the KRG, enabling Turkish businesses to maintain a robust presence in the Region.

The visit represents another step in solidifying the enduring economic partnership between Turkey and the Kurdistan Region, with the delegation expected to explore further avenues for cooperation and development.
