Kurdistan Region Leaders Condemn Terrorist Attack in Ankara, Extend Condolences

Senior officials from the Kurdistan Region on Wednesday strongly condemned a terrorist attack in Ankara that claimed multiple lives and left several others injured.

"I condemn today’s terrorist attack in Ankara. My thoughts and prayers are with the families of the victims, and I wish a swift recovery to the injured. We stand in full solidarity with the people and government of Türkiye against terrorism," Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani posted on X (formerly Twitter).

Prime Minister Masrour Barzani also expressed his condolences, stating on X: "I condemn the terrorist attack in Ankara. I conveyed my condolences to Türkiye Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan. My thoughts are with the families of the victims, and I wish the injured a speedy recovery."

The attack took place earlier on Wednesday outside Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) facilities in Ankara's Kahramankazan district. According to Turkey’s Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya, the incident, involving an explosion followed by gunfire, was confirmed as a "terrorist attack." Local media outlets reported a suicide bombing and an ongoing hostage situation at the site.

In the aftermath of the attack, Turkey's Justice Minister announced a judicial investigation, with a team of prosecutors assigned to the case. He expressed strong condemnation of the assault in a statement on X.

Minister Yerlikaya further confirmed that two attackers were killed in the assault. Sadly, the attack resulted in the deaths of three civilians, while 14 others sustained injuries.

This incident marks another episode of violence, prompting swift responses and condemnations from both local and international leaders.
