Prime Minister Masrour Barzani Lays Foundation Stone for Erbil-Koya Road

Prime Minister Masrour Barzani laid the foundation stone for the Erbil-Koya road during a special ceremony today, marking a significant step in enhancing regional connectivity in the Kurdistan Region.

In his speech, Prime Minister Barzani emphasized that the new road will significantly improve the connection between Koya, Taqtaq, and surrounding areas with Erbil. Additionally, the road will help link the provinces of Erbil and Sulaimani, fostering closer ties between cities and facilitating smoother travel across the region.

Barzani highlighted the government's ongoing efforts to create a robust road network that connects all cities in the Kurdistan Region. He noted that although plans for this project existed for years, previous governments faced various challenges that prevented its implementation. The completion of this project, he stated, will finally serve the citizens of the region.

"The people of Koya and all other cities in Kurdistan deserve better services," said the Prime Minister, reiterating the government's commitment to improving infrastructure throughout the region. "Our aim is to bring prosperity, services, and economic development to every corner of Kurdistan without discrimination."

Barzani acknowledged the hurdles the government has faced in securing funding and implementing projects across the region but expressed optimism that these obstacles will soon be resolved. He reaffirmed the government's dedication to launching a "service revolution" that will benefit all provinces and towns.

The Prime Minister also called on citizens to respect traffic regulations and protect the road once it is completed, stressing the importance of road safety and the need to maintain the integrity of public infrastructure. He urged citizens to avoid encroaching on road boundaries and to follow designated areas for commercial activities near the roads.

“This road will not only improve traffic flow between cities but also reduce traffic accidents and enhance the beauty of our country," Barzani stated, concluding his remarks with a message of hope for a more connected and prosperous Kurdistan.

The Erbil-Koya road project is seen as a crucial component in the region’s development plan, promising to strengthen transportation links and stimulate economic growth.
