Kurdistan Prime Minister Masrour Barzani Inaugurates Slevana Wheat Marketing Factory in Zakho

In a move aimed at boosting local industries and enhancing their global competitiveness, Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Prime Minister Masrour Barzani today inaugurated the Slevana factory in Zakho. The factory, established by Khoshnaw Company, is dedicated to marketing wheat from local farmers in the region.

During the inauguration ceremony, Prime Minister Barzani emphasized that the project is part of the government's broader strategy to support Kurdistan’s agricultural sector. The initiative, carried out in collaboration with the private sector, follows international standards to ensure the highest quality. Barzani expressed optimism that the new factory would improve services for farmers and inspire the development of similar projects in the future.

"We have placed significant importance on agriculture and food industries," Barzani said, noting the completion of various related projects across the region, including grain silos and agricultural enterprises. These initiatives are being implemented through government efforts and private sector partnerships.

Highlighting the importance of marketing local products globally, the Prime Minister announced that Kurdistan's agricultural products have already reached markets in both Arab and European countries. "Our products are now available internationally, and we are committed to expanding this presence further," he said, urging farmers to adhere to top-tier quality standards and adopt modern agricultural technologies.

Barzani also reiterated the key role agriculture plays in the KRG's plans to diversify the economy, adding that the sector has helped generate thousands of job opportunities for young people in the region.

"Our ultimate goal is to shift from a consumption-based society to a production-oriented one," Barzani stated. "We will continue to support local industries and ensure that projects like these can effectively compete with foreign products."

The inauguration of the Slevana factory marks another step forward in the KRG's ongoing efforts to bolster the agricultural sector and promote sustainable economic growth.
