Erbil, Thursday – Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Prime Minister Masrour Barzani warmly welcomed Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to Erbil, emphasizing the importance of enhancing relations between the Kurdistan Region and the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Following their meeting, Prime Minister Barzani expressed his satisfaction via his official account on X (formerly Twitter), stating, "It was a pleasure to meet with President Pezeshkian in Erbil today." He further emphasized the commitment to fostering strong, neighborly relations based on "mutual respect and interests."

President Pezeshkian’s visit to Erbil is part of a broader diplomatic tour in Iraq. In addition to his discussions with Prime Minister Masrour Barzani, he also held talks with Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani. These discussions centered on regional cooperation, with a focus on shared economic, political, and cultural interests.
President Pezeshkian also met separately with Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) President Masoud Barzani.
