Turkish Drone Strike Kills Three PKK Militants in Sulaymaniyah Province

A Turkish drone strike targeted a vehicle carrying PKK militants in the Said Sadiq district of Sulaymaniyah province, resulting in three fatalities, including a senior PKK leader.

The Counter-Terrorism Directorate in the Kurdistan Region has confirmed that a Turkish drone targeted a vehicle near the village of Taparash in Said Sadiq, Sulaymaniyah province, on Friday. The strike resulted in the deaths of a PKK leader, his driver, and another fighter who was accompanying them in the vehicle.

Earlier reports from security sources indicated that a drone had targeted a private car on the Said Sadiq-Halabja road, leading to speculation about the identity of those involved. On-the-ground reports from Kurdistan24’s correspondent revealed that the vehicle was carrying three passengers. Two of them were killed on the spot, while the third sustained severe injuries.

The Sulaymaniyah Asayish Directorate has launched an investigation into the incident and is expected to release further details once the inquiry is complete.

This incident underscores the ongoing tensions and military actions involving Turkish forces and PKK militants in the Kurdistan Region, adding to the broader conflict that has persisted in the region.
