Successful Implementation of Eid al-Adha Plans in Erbil Attracts Over 117,000 Tourists

The Erbil Governor’s office has announced the successful implementation of the General Directorate of Tourism (DGT) plans for the Eid al-Adha holidays, with the province welcoming more than 117,000 tourists during the festive period.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the Erbil Governor’s office confirmed that the four-day Eid al-Adha holidays were celebrated smoothly. "It was executed successfully and without a hitch. During the four-day holidays, 117,421 tourists visited Erbil," the statement read.

Despite the influx of visitors, security measures ensured that the festivities remained largely incident-free. The provincial office reported 54 registered crimes, with one currently under investigation. Traffic safety was also effectively managed by the Erbil Traffic Directorate, with only three traffic accidents recorded, all resulting in material damage but no injuries.

The Erbil Civil Defense Statistics revealed that there were 29 fire incidents over the holiday period. These included 22 fires involving clothes and trees, and incidents involving three cars, three houses, and a shop. Prompt action by civil defense teams ensured all fires were controlled without casualties.

Healthcare services were busy during the holidays, with Erbil province statistics indicating that 3,263 patients visited hospitals. Additionally, 154 children were born, and 222 major and minor surgeries were performed.

Municipal services continued to operate efficiently, with the Erbil Governor’s office reporting that 1,090 tons of garbage and waste were collected by the Erbil municipality, maintaining cleanliness and hygiene throughout the city.

The successful management of the Eid al-Adha celebrations highlights Erbil's preparedness and effective coordination across various sectors, ensuring a safe and enjoyable holiday for residents and visitors alike.
