President Masoud Barzani Reaffirms Kurdish Resolve on 48th Anniversary of Gulan Revolution
On the 48th anniversary of the Gulan Revolution, Kurdish leader Masoud Barzani emphasized that the revolution sent a clear message to all enemies of the Kurdish people: they will not surrender.
In a statement released on May 26, 2024, President Barzani highlighted the significance of the Gulan Revolution in Kurdish history and its role in the resistance and revival of the Kurdish people. The revolution, which began on May 26, 1976, followed the collapse of the September Revolution and carried forward its values and objectives.
"The glorious Gulan Revolution represents a significant phase in the history of our people and a valuable experience in the resistance and awakening of the Kurdish people," Barzani stated. "Despite the strength and brutality of the enemies and the existence of various conspiracies, the Kurdish people will not surrender. They will carry their struggle to the true battlefield, which is the sacred land of Kurdistan."
Barzani paid tribute to the first martyr of the Gulan Revolution, Said Abdullah Haj Omarani, and all martyrs of Kurdistan. He also honored the fighters and heroes who contributed to the revolution through the Peshmerga struggle, party efforts, and clandestine activities both in the cities and in exile.
"We will never forget the sacrifices and the history created by these heroes for their people," Barzani added. "The achievements realized are the result of the blood of the martyrs and the suffering and work of the people, the Peshmerga, and the fighters of the Gulan Revolution and all the revolutions of the Kurdish people."
The Gulan Revolution, which began under intense pressure from various enemies, is remembered as a pivotal moment in Kurdish history, marking the unwavering determination of the Kurdish people to fight for their rights and their homeland.
