Kurdistan Expands "My Account" Project for Digital Payroll
Rebaz Hamlan, Assistant to Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani, has revealed significant developments regarding the expansion of the "My Account" project, which seeks to digitize the payroll process for more than one million public sector employees.
In an exclusive statement to Kurdistan 24, Hamlan disclosed that following the conclusion of Ramadan, additional Iraqi banks, including the Commercial Bank of Iraq TBI, will join the initiative. This expansion marks a crucial step towards broader implementation and accessibility of the digital payroll system.
Highlighting the collaborative efforts between the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) and the federal government, Hamlan emphasized the positive trajectory of the "My Account" project. He expressed optimism about the forthcoming visible outcomes post-holidays, foreseeing advancements towards realizing a cashless society and enhancing financial security for beneficiaries.
The initiative, launched in September 2023, reflects the KRG's commitment to transitioning the Kurdistan Region towards a cashless economy. By digitizing the payroll system for its extensive public sector workforce, the project aims to streamline salary collection processes, fortify financial stability, and provide beneficiaries with access to a range of financial services, including savings accounts.
