President Nechirvan Barzani held a meeting with Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert, the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Iraq, on Wednesday afternoon in Erbil. Their discussion mainly focused on the current situation in the Kurdistan Region and the upcoming Kurdistan parliamentary elections.

During the meeting, both President Nechirvan Barzani and Special Representative Plasschaert emphasized the importance of conducting the elections in the Kurdistan Region. They also highlighted the perspectives of various political parties and the collective efforts being made to overcome any obstacles that may hinder the electoral process. Furthermore, they exchanged views regarding the significance of ensuring the participation of all parties in the elections.

The meeting also touched upon the matters between Erbil and Baghdad, as well as the recent developments in their ongoing talks to address these issues.
