ISIS Suspected in Deadly Twin Blasts Near Soleimani Memorial in Kerman, Iran
Amidst mourning for the fourth anniversary of the US drone strike that killed Commander Qasem Soleimani and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, Kerman City was rocked by twin explosions, leaving 95 dead and 211 wounded. While some Iranian officials pointed fingers at the US and Israel, Iranian researcher Sadegh Zibakalam suggested evidence implicating the Islamic State (ISIS), though the group has not claimed responsibility.
Zibakalam argued that the attacks' nature, causing civilian casualties, does not align with Israel's precise targeting. He dismissed claims of an Iranian conspiracy against Israel but criticized Tehran for a perceived lack of timely medical response.
Iranian President's senior advisor, Mohammad Jamshidi, directly blamed Israel and the US for the bombings, stating, "The responsibility of this crime lies with the US and Zionist regimes, and terrorism is just a tool."
World leaders, including those in the Kurdistan Region, condemned the attacks as acts of terrorism. Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani and Prime Minister Masrour Barzani expressed condolences to the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei warned of a "tough response" to those behind the attacks, while President Ebrahim Raisi vowed to identify and punish those responsible.
The international community closely watches as investigations unfold, highlighting the need for swift action against terrorism in the region.
