Erbil Governor Announces Land Distribution for KRG Employees as Part of New City Development Project

In a press conference on Thursday, Erbil Governor Omed Khoshnaw announced the start of a major land distribution initiative aimed at employees in the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) sector. Under the directive of Prime Minister Masrour Barzani, the land will be allocated based on entitlement terms and conditions, with plans to develop a modern residential city in one of Erbil’s prime locations.

Governor Khoshnaw confirmed that an area on the Erbil-Duhok highway has been selected for the project, following the completion of the Erbil master plan. "One of the best areas in Erbil has been identified, and the procedures have started following the Prime Minister’s decree," he stated.

The project’s master plan envisions a fully equipped, modern city designed for convenience and sustainability. The chosen site benefits from its proximity to the Erbil Emergency Water Project, ensuring reliable water services. Key features include spacious 30-meter and 20-meter roads, with the smallest streets at 12 meters. The layout will also incorporate dedicated cycling paths, green spaces, and other essential amenities.

Governor Khoshnaw praised the transparent and systematic process for drawing lots among employees from the Ministries of Planning, Social Affairs, Municipalities, and the Kurdistan Parliament. "We congratulate the 3,000 employees whose names have been declared," he said, noting that each employee's eligibility will be verified to confirm they have not benefited from previous land distribution schemes. Following verification, eligible employees will receive allocation cards for their new plots.

This project marks a significant step in the KRG’s efforts to improve employee welfare and urban development, with an emphasis on systematic planning and transparency.
