Iraqi Officials Commend Prime Minister Masrour Barzani's Aid to Hamdaniya Fire Victims
Erbil, Kurdistan Region, September 30, 2023 - Saleh Manshad, the Health Advisor to the Federal Prime Minister, has expressed his admiration for the extensive efforts made by Prime Minister Masrour Barzani of the Kurdistan Region in providing assistance to the victims of the tragic Hamdaniya fire incident.
In a show of gratitude, Manshad commended the Kurdistan Regional Government, the Ministry of Health, and the health directorates of Erbil and Duhok for their unwavering support for the injured. He emphasized that the Kurdistan Region has consistently demonstrated its commitment to providing aid during times of crisis.
The Kurdistan Regional Government's Ministry of Health issued a statement confirming that Dr. Saman Barzanji, the Minister of Health in the Kurdistan Regional Government, received Saleh Manshad, the Prime Minister's Health Advisor, and Khamees Hussein, the Deputy Minister of Health, along with their accompanying delegation during their visit to Erbil. The purpose of their visit was to convey their heartfelt appreciation to Prime Minister Masrour Barzani for his prompt response to the Hamdaniya fire tragedy.
Both the Health Advisor to the Iraqi Prime Minister and the Deputy Minister of Health extended their gratitude to the General Directorates of Health in Erbil and Duhok for their invaluable assistance in aiding the victims of the devastating fire incident in Hamdaniya, located in the Mosul province. This assistance included the reception and treatment of the wounded, as well as the dispatch of critical medicines and medical supplies to the Hamdaniya Hospital.
The tragic fire, which occurred at the Haitham Hall for celebrations in the town of Hamdaniya in Nineveh province, northern Iraq, claimed the lives of at least a hundred individuals, with over 150 others sustaining injuries. This information was confirmed by Saif al-Badri, the spokesperson for the Iraqi Ministry of Health.
Minister of Health in the Kurdistan Regional Government, Saman Barzanji, emphasized that the Region spared no effort in providing essential aid and medical treatment to the victims, in accordance with the directives of Prime Minister Masrour Barzani.
In a concerted effort to support the victims, health directorates in Erbil and Duhok dispatched 36 ambulances and more than 4 tons of emergency medical supplies to the Hamdaniya district. This enabled the prompt treatment of minor injuries, while those with severe injuries were transferred to hospitals in Erbil and Duhok.
The Hamdaniya fire incident has showcased the importance of regional cooperation and swift response in times of crisis, with Prime Minister Masrour Barzani leading the way in ensuring that the affected individuals receive the necessary aid and medical care during this challenging period.
