In response to a recent outbreak of food poisoning during a wedding celebration in Hawija district, the Kirkuk provincial police command has initiated legal proceedings against 262 individuals. This incident, which initially affected approximately 50 individuals, prompted a swift and comprehensive response from local authorities.

The Kirkuk provincial police command released a statement detailing the actions taken following the reports of food poisoning among residents of Hawija district. A specialized team, led by the Deputy Police Chief and his assistant, was assembled to address the situation. Their mandate included monitoring the health conditions of those affected, identifying those responsible for the incident, and initiating legal actions against them.

Concurrently, a tactical unit was deployed to Hawija district, and enhanced security measures were put in place to ensure public safety. Thanks to the dedicated efforts of medical personnel and security forces, all individuals who fell ill due to the food poisoning have been discharged from the hospital, and their health has significantly improved.

The total number of citizens affected by this incident has reached 262. Notably, the statement confirmed that three individuals have been arrested in connection with the food poisoning, following the approval of the investigating judge.

Prior to the official announcement by local authorities, medical sources had reported that at least 50 people suffered from food poisoning during a wedding celebration in Hawija district, located in the southwest region of Kirkuk province. The affected individuals were promptly transported to a local hospital, where their conditions are now described as "under control." The root cause of the food poisoning has been attributed to the consumption of contaminated food.

The Kirkuk provincial police command remains committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of its citizens and is diligently investigating this incident to hold those responsible accountable for their actions.
