Kurdistan PM Meets with UN Delegation to Discuss Economic Diversification and Climate Change
Erbil, Kurdistan Region – The Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), Masrour Barzani, met today with a high-level delegation from the United Nations, headed by Abdullah Al-Dardari, Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations and Director of the Regional Office of the United Nations Development Program for the Arab States (UNDP).
The meeting was held at the KRG's headquarters in Erbil and discussed a range of issues, including economic diversification, climate change, and water resources.
Al-Dardari gave a brief presentation on the UNDP's work in the Kurdistan Region, highlighting the organization's support for economic development and climate adaptation. He also expressed the UNDP's willingness to provide further assistance to the KRG in these areas.
Barzani welcomed the UNDP's support and spoke about the KRG's own efforts to diversify the economy and address the challenges of climate change. He highlighted the KRG's investments in renewable energy, water conservation, and other climate-friendly initiatives.
The meeting also discussed the importance of protecting water resources in the Kurdistan Region. Barzani stressed the need for cooperation between the KRG and the federal government to ensure the sustainable management of water resources.
Al-Dardari and Barzani agreed to continue their discussions and to work together to address the challenges facing the Kurdistan Region.
