Kurdistan PM Meets with Iraqi Media and Communications Authority Delegation

Erbil, Kurdistan Region - Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Prime Minister Masrour Barzani met with a delegation from the Board of Commissioners of the Iraqi Media and Communications Authority (IMCA) on Thursday, June 15, 2023.

The delegation, led by IMCA Chairman Bassam Salem, briefed Barzani on the IMCA's work, activities, and projects in the field of media, communications, and information technology. They also expressed their willingness to coordinate and cooperate with the KRG in these areas.

Barzani welcomed the delegation and praised the IMCA's work. He stressed the importance of the communications and information technology sector and the rapid development that the world is witnessing today in this regard. He also highlighted the importance of artificial intelligence and its potential to open wide horizons for humanity in all fields.

The Prime Minister renewed the desire of the concerned institutions in the Kurdistan Region to coordinate with the IMCA. He also stressed the importance of having representation of the region in federal bodies and institutions.

The meeting was attended by KRG Communications Minister Ano Jawhar and other officials from the KRG and IMCA.

The IMCA is a federal body responsible for regulating the media, communications, and information technology sectors in Iraq. The KRG has its own Ministry of Communications, which is responsible for overseeing these sectors in the Kurdistan Region.

The meeting between Barzani and the IMCA delegation is a sign of the growing cooperation between the KRG and the federal government in the field of communications and information technology. It is also a sign of the KRG's commitment to developing these sectors in the Kurdistan Region.
