Denmark Withdraws Military Specialists from Iraq and Syria as NATO Reviews Defense Policy Amid Ukraine-Russia Conflict
The Danish Ministry of Defense has announced the withdrawal of all its military specialists from Iraq and Syria who participated in operations against ISIS.
In a statement issued by the Danish Ministry of Defense, it was stated that the military leadership has decided to withdraw and return to Denmark due to the fact that the number of ISIS terrorists has decreased to a level where there is no urgent need for their contribution. Furthermore, they need their forces in their own country.
Denmark has been a member of the international coalition against ISIS since July 2014, and it has 300 soldiers and military advisors in Iraq and Syria.
Meanwhile, the United States media reported that NATO is reviewing its defense policy due to the ongoing war between Ukraine and Russia. According to US media reports, the new NATO strategy requires NATO allies in Eastern Europe to increase their forces to defeat Russia if it attacks their borders.
This development follows recent tensions between Ukraine and Russia, which have escalated into a military conflict with both sides accusing each other of aggression.
This has prompted NATO to take a closer look at its defense policy and ensure that its allies are prepared to defend themselves in case of any future conflict with Russia.
