PM Masrour Barzani meets with foreign diplomats
Prime Minister Masrour Barzani on Saturday met with a number of Consul Generals and foreign diplomats in the Kurdistan Region.
Prime Minister Barzani briefed the foreign diplomats on the reform process of the ninth KRG cabinet, the relationship between Erbil and Baghdad, and the latest developments in the region.
The Prime Minister remarked that Iraq’s new government should ensure it serves all the different constituents of the country and establishes peace and prosperity. He added that the KRG has always tried to maintain a strong relationship with the federal government, and that the Kurdistan Region is a source of stability and coexistence in the region which desires strong relations with neighboring states.
Prime Minister Barzani also addressed the KRG’s plan to diversify the economy and facilitate foreign investment in the Kurdistan Region, and to digitize government services in the interests of easing communications between government institutions.
Finally, Prime Minister Barzani emphasized the importance of ongoing support to the Kurdistan Region in the face of the threats imposed by the Islamic State (ISIS), especially in disputed territories.
The migrant crisis and the KRG’s efforts to stop illegal migration were also discussed.
