The Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Masrour Barzani, the President of the Kurdistan Region, and the Speaker of the Parliament of the Kurdistan Region, on Sunday, met with French President Emmanuel Macron.

During the meeting, the participants discussed the general situation in Iraq and the region and the development of relations between the Kurdistan Region and France.

The French President praised the historical relations between France and the Kurdistan Region and the role of the Kurdistan Peshmerga, led by President Massoud Barzani, in defeating ISIS, and stressed his country's continued support and cooperation for the Kurdistan Region.

"Our arrival in Kurdistan is a message that France will not abandon its friends," the French president said.

The Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government praised France's friendly position in support of the Kurdistan Region at various stages, and praised France's role in the security and stability of the region.

In another focus of the meeting, the importance of implementing the Sinjar Agreement and preparations for the return of refugees to their areas were discussed.
