Turkey releases pro-Kurdish former parliamentarian
The Turkish, Haber Türk news channel, reported that the country's authorities released former parliamentarian Omar Faruk Gergerlioglu by a court decision.
Gergerlioglu, a member of Turkey's leftist pro-Kurdish Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP), was stripped of parliament last March and sentenced to two and a half years in prison in April for "spreading terrorist propaganda" for his Twitter posts.
The accusation related to a link to a news report that included comments for the Kurdistan Workers' Party, which is banned in Turkey, which Gergerlioglu republished on Twitter.
