The security authorities in Iraq announced, on Thursday, the arrest of 9 terrorists from the Islamic State, including a woman, in Kirkuk Governorate.

The Federal Intelligence and Investigation Agency of the Ministry of Interior stated, in a statement, today, that "its detachments were able to arrest them under arrest warrants on charges of pledging allegiance to ISIS, carrying weapons and fighting in the ranks of the organization, and setting fictitious controls, as well as providing logistical support in terms of food and fuel."

The statement added that "their statements were initially and judicially recorded in the confessions, and all legal measures were taken against them."

Earlier today, an Iraqi judicial court issued a death sentence against 13 people convicted of the crime of belonging to ISIS.

Terrorist attacks by ISIS have escalated since the beginning of last year, targeting cities and security sectors from time to time.

Despite the organization’s loss of the areas it controlled in the events of June 2014, and the collapse of the so-called “caliphate” state, its terrorist cells are still able to threaten Iraqi security in several areas.

The Iraqi forces are chasing the remnants of the organization through a series of successive military operations, which often lead to the killing and arrest of the organization's members.
