President Barzani receives British Ambassador to Iraq
President Masoud Barzani received, on Wednesday, British Ambassador to Iraq Stephen Hickey.
During the meeting, which was attended by the British Consul James Thornton in Erbil, views were exchanged on the political process, elections and the next stage in Iraq, as well as the political situation in the Kurdistan Region, and the relations between the region and Baghdad. They also focused on the security and political challenges facing the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
In another aspect of the meeting, the impact of international and regional policies on the future of Iraq and ways to achieve stability in it were discussed.
The meeting also discussed the steps to be taken to establish a military coordination center between the Kurdistan Peshmerga forces and the Iraqi forces, as well as reforms in the Ministry of Peshmerga and the unification of the Kurdish Peshmerga forces within the framework of the Ministry of Peshmerga.
And the relations between the Kurdistan Region and the United Kingdom and work to improve those relations was another focus of the meeting.
The British Ambassador to Iraq Stephen Hickey, and the British Consul in Erbil James Thornton, completed their mission in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, and paid a farewell visit to President Barzani, and President Barzani expressed his gratitude and best wishes in their new jobs.
