Erbil Airport Director: No one was arrested for political reasons

The director of Erbil Airport said that what was reported about the arrest of three people is not true, because we deal only with passports and documents, and we do not deal with anyone based on a political opinion.

Ahmed Hoshyar, in statements to the official website of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, said that no one was arrested because of his political views at Erbil airport, and it is not true that the Democratic Union Party (PYD) is talking about the arrest of its three members at Erbil airport. There is a problem with their passports or residency.

Ahmed Hoshyar added that they only deal with official documents and passports, and there should be no problem with passports. He noted that as a general rule, the validity of passports should be at least six months when traveling internationally. Iraq will not allow the traveler to enter the country unless the passport is set to expire at least six months after the last day of travel.

The Democratic Union Party (PYD) reported that three of its members were arrested at Erbil airport, but Erbil airport denies this.
