Ankara-Backed Rebels Continue to Looting Civilian Properties in Afrin: Monitor
ERBIL - Ankara-backed Syrian rebels continue looting civilians' properties in the Kurdish enclave of Afrin in northern Syria, human rights groups said.

According to a statement by the human rights groups in Afrin, a copy of which was shared with BasNews, nearly 100 families have evacuated their houses "under the pressure of the Turkish forces since the fall of Afrin in the neighborhoods of Ashrafiya and Zidiya.”

The statement noted that the houses have been given to the Syrian islamists, adding that the rebels have looted a lot of civilians' properties, including cars, furniture, and similar stuff.

Jomard Hamdush, a Kurdish journalist in the region, told BasNews that the Turkish army and the Free Syrian Forces (FSA) want to change the demography of Afrin, and they, therefore, force the Kurdish residents to leave the city.

"And after that, Arab and Turkmen families will be brought to the area, " Hamdush pointed out.
