ERBIL — Prominent Kurdish leader and former president of Kurdistan Region received on Thursday a delegation from Russia to discuss “historic and friendly” ties.

The Russian delegation was headed by Deputy Minister for Energy of the Russian Federation Pavel Sorokin.

The guests highlighted the role of Barzani in helping Kurds successfully pass different challenges during the past few decades. They also reiterated Moscow’s support for Erbil in different areas.

Sorokin pointed out that Russia sees Kurdistan as an important partner in the areas of energy, trade and technology, hoping for further developing ties in other sectors as well.

Barzani thanked Moscow for the supports it has offered to the Kurds during hard times. He also hoped the bilateral relations witness further development.
