KDP, PUK Delegates Meet with Iraqi President
ERBIL - High-level delegates from the two major Kurdish political parties, the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), met on Sunday with the Iraqi President Fuad Masum for talks on the formation of the largest bloc in the parliament.

According to a statement by the Iraqi presidential office, the KDP's Fazil Mirani and PUK's Mala Bakhtiyar headed the Kurdish delegations jointly where they called for the first session of the new parliament soon so that a new government in Baghdad will be built within a constitutional period of time.

Officials also shed light on the current political developments in the Kurdistan Region, and further strengthening the relations between Erbil and Baghdad. According to article 54 from the Iraqi Constitution, the parliament should hold its first session within 15 days after the election results were ratified.
