ERBIL - At least seven members of the Islamic State (IS) were killed on Saturday in clashes with the Iraqi Federal Police in the province of Mosul, said a military commander.

Commander of Nineveh Operations Maj. Gen. Nejm al-Jabouri told BasNews that the seven militants were attempting to sneak into al-Shoura district in southern Mosul.

He noted that the security forces after the clashes launched a manhunt in search of the remaining insurgents.

The Islamic State was already declared defeated in December, last year, but it has once again started to re-emerge in most liberated territories.
